Develops technical assistance in material selection, manufacturing processes, design performance test development, and product reliability. Ensures design and documentation of new and existing products meets established quality and performance standards, by applying basic engineering principles under moderate supervision.

Basic Qualifications
• Associates degree in Engineering or Design PLUS six years product design experience using design software, Solidworks, or ProE applications.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Design with four years product design experience using design software, Solidworks, or ProE applications.
Other Requirements
• Must have good knowledge of engineering practices and manufacturing processes of wood and sheet metal manufacturing.
• Must have working knowledge of Pro Engineer.
• Must be knowledgeable of American National Standards Institute (ANSI) drafting practices, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GDT).
• Ability to conceptualize multidimensional models on CAD or PC.
• PC and keyboard/mouse skills; working knowledge of company-supported software applications, especially spreadsheet applications.
• Working knowledge of processes followed within test lab environment during product development, including tolerancing, analyzing, and testing of prototypes.
• Ability to travel overnight away from corporate offices, including internationally, up to ten percent of time.

A working knowledge of structural mechanics and engineering physics is required. A strong background in material sciences with emphasis on aluminum and other lightweight materials and manufacturing knowledge of these materials is required. International working skills and an understanding of the global market are required. Excellent computer skills along with good written and verbal communication skills are also necessary.

Our bumper design engineer, designs a bumper to meet a particular customer need. He works with our CAD engineer to develop the concept. Once the design is complete it's handed over to our CAE group that runs FEA analysis. So the CAE Engineers don't design anything, they are running FEA analysis on the design. The eventual design is presented to our customers. The D.&R. Engineers at the O.E.M. then approves the design. Again the D.& R. engineers are not designing anything. They approve based on their specifications. They have not determined the manufacturability of the design nor the many other issues a supplier must consider. The true component design work is done at the supplier level not at the O.E.M. level.

* Leading a Reliability Engineering activities involving predictive maintenance, root cause analysis, and condition monitoring.
* Leading condition monitoring activities including vibration analysis, ultrasonics, thermal imaging, and thermography.
* Implementing TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) techniques involving preventative maintenance, periodic maintenance, corrective maintenance, and maintenance prevention activities to achieve zero defects, zero breakdown, and zero accidents in all functional areas of the organization.
* Implementing RCM (Reliability Centered Maintenance) techniques to analyze production systems utilizing a FTA (Fault Tree Analysis), and ETA (Event Tree Analysis), and MTTR (Mean Time To Repair), illustrating consequences of component or system failures.
* Utilizing modern TPM, Total Quality Management, Six Sigma methodologies, and Lean Manufacturing techniques to develop a best in class maintenance operation.
* Developing and implementing strategic operating plans to ensure the highest metrics driving & increasing equipment uptime availabilities, performance capacities, and OEE Overall Equipment Effectiveness.
* Supporting capital projects and process improvements involving high volume packaging systems and food production equipment including blending systems, mixing tanks, steam injectors, spray dryers, and liquid processing tanks.

Preferred Candidate Background and Expertise:
* BS or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related Engineering field.
* Prior experience working in a Reliability Engineer or Reliability Engineering role.
* Over 5-7 years of Food Processing and Packaging experience.
* Exceptional Project Management, Project Leadership, Process Improvement, and Capital Project Management experience.
* Engineering expertise supporting Equipment, Utilities, Facilities, Site Grounds, Waste Treatment, Power Systems, HVAC, and Steam Systems.
* Process Improvement experience implementing TPM, RCM, Total Quality Management, Six Sigma methodologies, and Lean Manufacturing techniques including Process Mapping, CTQ, Root Cause Analysis, Control Charts and Statistical Process Control (SPC). Six Sigma Green Belt or Six Sigma Black Belt a plus.
* Expertise working within cGMP, FDA, HACCP & OSHA compliance and providing appropriate documentation & SOPs.

This position is responsible for design of printed circuit boards in the development of new electronics products. Using Mentor Graphics Expedition, this individual will be responsible for ensuring our PCB designs meet Gentex and industry requirements, along with manufacturing and testability needs.
A 2 or 4 year degree in Electronics is required, along with a minimum of 5 years experience using Mentor Graphics Expedition PCB layout tool. Experience using Mentor Graphics Expedition is a must, along with extensive knowledge HDI, BGA, CSP and Hyperlynx. Individuals without Mentor Graphics Expedition experience will not be considered.
