Will be required to manage the details of several complex projects at once, from setting up appropriate filing systems to facilitating the approval of final files. Also responsible for approving typeset pages. Will be a key contact for internal partners on matters of manuscript development, editorial tone and style, project production and page layout.
• Electronic Project Management: Prefer an individual who is conversant in print-to-web technologies and methods, which is a growing part of this position and industry.
• Author Care and Development: Responsible for working as a key team member in acquiring product ideas and proposals from major partners and authors; also responsible for working with partners in finalizing each detail of a new product proposal, assisting authors in the process of writing appropriate manuscripts, and ghost-writing materials as needed.
• Product Management: Collaborating with Zondervan marketing, production and sales departments, as well as outside designers, typesetters and freelancers on all aspects of product development; also managing project budgets and working with outside vendors on cost-cutting initiatives.
• Zondervan Teams: Representing assigned projects Bible Leadership Team meetings, marketing team meetings and sales conferences.

KNOWLEDGE:
• 2 to 5 years of editorial experience required
• BA in English or related field required; Master’s degree in English or related field and/or seminary degree preferred
• Work experience in the Christian publishing arena preferred
• Must demonstrate an excellent ability to edit manuscripts
according to agreed-upon parameters
• Must be an excellent interpersonal communicator with an ability
to work well with authors and other team members
• Must be proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and various internet
applications
• Familiarity with web applications preferred
• Knowledge of and participation in the Christian publishing environment preferred.
