condition: excellent
make / manufacturer: Maytag Neptune
model name / number: MDG4000AWW
Up for sale is a white Maytag Neptune gas dryer, model MDG4000AWW. This unit was manufactured in February, 1999. Back in its day, this dryer was Maytag's top-of-the-line gas dryer; the unit was released to the market in the late 1990's. I've owned another of this same model for almost 20 years myself and I used that dryer every weekend. The problem that Maytag had was that the matching Neptune washing machine turned out to be a nightmare for Maytag and eventually that was the machine that caused them to go bankrupt. There were tons of problems with the Neptune washer but the dryer was stellar! The reason for the sale is that when we moved into our home in 2013, the former owners left their washer and dryer for us and this is the dryer that I'm selling. Because I already had a Maytag Neptune dryer that's nearly exactly the same, I kept this one as a spare, just in case. Well, it's now been 11 years and we haven't needed it so we decided that it's time to sell the spare. Just before we purchased our home, the former owners had a service call on this Neptune dryer and they spent about $152 on the repair (thermal fuse replacement). I do have the receipt and I'm including a picture of it here. Needless to say, since that repair, we haven't used the unit and the repair was done just months before we moved in so I don't believe that there's very many hours on the dryer since it was repaired. For the record, this dryer cost almost $600 itself back in the late 1990's. It was one of the most expensive dryers that you could purchase and, as I mentioned, it was the top unit from Maytag. These were the dryers that you could have repaired when something went wrong versus the units produced today that are "throw-away" appliances. For the record, it's in remarkable condition for its age and I just plugged it in to make sure that it still worked. I didn't hook it up to gas because it's being stored in a separate building on our property that doesn't have natural gas to that building. When I stored the dryer, I covered the gas inlet with a plastic bag and also stuffed the exhaust opening with a rag to keep insects, etc. out of the inside of the unit. I have no doubt that it works just fine because it was working properly when we moved in and just before I changed it out with my own Neptune gas dryer. I'm also including a gas hook-up line with the sale.

Should you have any questions please feel free to call me. Please note that I do not respond to text messages due to previous issues with "less-than-honest" buyers. Please also note that I don't have a truck to transport this unit so you'll have to provide your own transportation and muscle to load it. Thanks for looking; take care and God bless.
