In 1910, several people bought the Fritz Walz building in Saugatuck, MI, to pen the Fruit Growers State Bank. The bank was established to serve the strong fruit growing industry of the area.
This lithographed backing was probably used to hold a small, yearly calendar at the bottom.
It measures 12 x 15 inches and is made of light cardboard stock. The color is as bold as it ever was.
As you can see from the photos, the corners and border are pretty rough, but with no effect on the main graphics.
Why would be perfect for this piece is that it cut down to fit into a 9 x 12 frame for display.
If you are/were from the Saugatuck area, this is a great piece of the town’s history.
