11/27: Historical Swordsmanship Classes (Rockford, MI)

The Swordsmanship Museum and Academy offers high quality classes open to anyone in the community. The classes cover a variety of different types of swordsmanship, including historical martial arts from various cultures and eras, to modern interpretations, and even athletic classes.

Class title: What is HEMA? An Introduction and Combat Demonstration
October 23, 2019 - 7:00-8:30 pm
Location: OMG!Yoga (251 Northland Dr NE, Rockford, MI 49341 )
A one-time class for those who are curious about the details of Historical European Martial Arts. This class will look into different types of source material, methods of practice, and varieties of equipment used to interpret the common aspects of HEMA. The class will end with a combat demonstration.
Age: Open to all ages
Cost: $30 per person

Class title: An Introduction to Medieval Longsword
Four sessions: Wednesdays in November 2019, 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm
Location: OMG!Yoga (251 Northland Dr NE, Rockford, MI 49341 )
A four-session class that is a perfect introduction for students who wish to begin learning the most popular Medieval weapon in modern HEMA and historical swordsmanship. Students will not only learn the fundamentals of the German Longsword tradition, but also will serve as a stepping stone to higher levels of HEMA practice and research. This class includes optional sparring.
Age: 16+ (Students under 18 must have parent sign waiver)
Cost: $75 per person (for all 4 sessions)
