Hello!

There are so many PS5/Xbox Series X/Nintendo Switch scams out there. If it is too good to be true, don't message them, just flag and move on, they will get taken down eventually.

Any of these games systems that is much lower than retail, or they try to give you a sob story and attempt to get you to do shipping, don't fall for it. Get a picture with your name on it and their face in the picture, if they can produce this it is most likely real, but not always.

Pay attention to spelling and grammar, they are terrible at both, if the sentence doesn't make sense, be weary.

Don't pay with PayPal/Cash App/Venmo/Zelle, Etc...anyone trying to push that for a sale like this is a scam.

Don't click on any "verification" link they provide..."I would love to ship this to you free of charge, please click this link to verify your identity", this link upon acceptance will install malware in your computer/phone and attempt to steal all of your bank information/personal information; anything you have saved it can try to steal.

Their "child" didn't die and are giving away for free, or even if you pay shipping. They didn't catch their man cheating and just want to get rid of it. Their "child" doesn't have bad grades so they are giving it away...none of these are true. The ads that state contact "Emily/Natasha/Veronica/Michael" and give no pictures, are also scams.

Anyone who sets up a meetup but then changes at the last minute and asks for shipping, much like the picture below from "Kenosha" who had a "sudden" business trip to go on, but would ship out the package ASAP before they went out of town because they "had the ps5" already in their vehicle...because that happens all the time. This person also had a "child" that died and couldn't stand looking at the "unopened, brand new 600$" PS5 anymore, so they were willing to give it out for free.

Nobody gives away a gaming system worth several hundreds of dollars for free, if it is too good to be true, it most likely is. If they are asking for "shipping only", even if you live down the road from them, you can bet they are a scam.

Below are a few examples of the scams I have been seeing to help weed out the fakes. Be safe out there, these scammers are dumb and they try the same tricks over and over.

This happens on both Facebook AND Craigslist.
