Honeybees, LOCAL and SUSTAINABLE. I have been raising Michigan queens and producing nucs for 12 years here in West MI. Every spring my queens and nucs are raised from my Michigan overwintered survivor stock. My bees are in Michigan year round. They are not shipped in or brought in from other states in the spring.
The Nuc is made of 5 deep frames including the bees, their queen and at least two frames of brood along with honey, pollen and drawn comb. There is no frame exchange or added costs. The nuc is available to pick up in a vented nuc box for easy transport. Nucs are pick up only and cannot be shipped. I am very flexible with pick up dates. Nucs with 2026 newly mated local queens are available early May 2026-mid June 2026! Times of pick up are early morning or late evening.
My bees have Italian, Carniolan, Russian and Saskatraz heritage but cannot be claimed as any specific genetic due to the nature and complexity of honeybee mating and reproduction. I also participate in queen exchanges with other local beekeepers in Michigan. Michigan Mutts are what my bees are commonly referred to as.
For more info on the importance of getting local bees and sustainability check out Northern Bee Network. Search words=Heather, Dorr. Do yourself a favor and start with a nuc over starting with a package from the south. Your June nuc will still be way further along with an already established laying queen than your package will be even if you get that in April or May. Bee Informed Partnership also recommends starting with a local nuc.
To reserve a nuc, respond to this email. . Include your name, number of Nucs desired, a contact phone number and personal email. I require an email because I have found that the craigslist reply emails often go to your spam folder. I will only use it to confirm your order and to contact you for pick up times in the spring. Thank you.
